Google has finally opened Knol to the public. They had announced about this product back in December, 2007 and recently they have made it available to everyone. So what are Knols? - quoting Google "Knols are authoritative articles about specific topics, written by people who know about those subjects." It is a kind of Wikipedia type of thing. But there are certain differences which are indeed useful. Unlike Wikipedia, you have total control over your knol (read 'article'), your name is shown and you can place ads on your knol. I was quick to create my first knol - a knol about myself! (it is automatically created when you sign in for the first time) What are you waiting for? For sometime now, hawkers in buses and trains and everywhere are selling something interesting - some very small colorful balls (and also transparent ones) that grows in size when soaked in water for several hours. These swollen balls look very pretty and they are being sold mainly as items of room decoration. In normal condition (when they are dry), these balls are very small (0.1 - 0.3 cm in diameter) and quite hard. But once you put them in water for 6-7 hours they grow many times and become as large as 1.5 cm in diameter. And they also become very soft and elastic like rubber balls.

Finally higher resolution satellite images of Burdwan (Bardhaman), my hometown are available on Google Maps and Google Earth . Even individual houses are recognizable now like other big cities around the world. And now I can locate my house also. View Larger Map

Now only one year left for completion my Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering course at Jadavpur University. Classes of 4th year had already started a few days ago. In this semester we have some of the most interesting subjects in Computer Science, like Internet Technologies, Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing along with project, seminar and the grand viva.
