Gmail Storage Crossed the 6000 Mark!

Have you noticed that the GMail space counter left the 6000 Mark behind? That means you have almost 6 GB of storage. It's amaging! I think it is counting more rapidly now-a-days. And what is peculiar about this is the percentage of storage I am using is decreasing day by day. I also noticed today the GMail logo still shows 'beta' at the bottom!!

Use Your Mobile as a Bluetooth Modem in Linux

As there is no pc-suite or something as yet for linux, it may appear difficult to connect your mobile via bluetooth and to the internet as well. But as I found out recently it is really simple. I am able to connect my Nokia N70 via bluetooth in Ubuntu linux. And now, I can surf the internet from linux through GPRS. I think it will work with all bluetooth enabled mobile with a working gprs connection. First get bluez-gnome installed if you don't have already. $ sudo apt-get install bluez-gnome Now on your phone open Bluetooth and select the ' Paired devices ' tab (by pressing the right button). Under ' options ' select ' New paired device '. It will find your computer. Select your computer-name. This will prompt for passcode . Give same passcode for this and when will be asked by the computer later. You can select yes to 'Authorise device to make connections automatically?', so that you will not be asked each time you try to connect it. No...

Create a menu with DHTML (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

Here is how you can create a simple menu for your website. Take the mouse pointer over 'Sites' below to see how it works. Sites CodeIde Google Yahoo! Live Search Scribd Orkut The code is very simple. Get the issue of 'digit' this month

Image
The issue of digit this month(Dec, 2007) is worth buying. It contains 5 separate magazines on computing, entertainment, personal tech, connect and gaming. And they are giving 5 dvds full of all types of softwares, games, songs, movies and many other useful things. What I found most useful is 6 year digit archive including 68 past digit issues and 33 issues of Fast Track in pdf format. The 'Fast Track' s are booklets comes with each digit issue containing information on some subject like windows registry editing, web design, photography and so on. I have been reading digit for a few months now. The fast tracks discuss on very interesting subjects each month. It is great having all the fast track issues on one dvd. Check their website www.thinkdigit.com for complete list of contents.

Redirection to my dynamically assigned IP with No-IP

I found No-IP.com recently. It solved the problem of running a server with dynamic ip addresses that I mentioned in a previous post . No-ip.com gives a free subdomain like 'yourname.no-ip.com' which will redirect to your ip-address. There is also available a 'Dynamic Update Client' to manage dynamic ip-addresses. It is a software that runs on your computer and updates the dns servers each time you connect to the internet. It can be started manually or set to run automatically. Now I don't have to type ip-address each time I want access my computer from outside. I cannot tell you the web-address for my computer here as I have limited bandwidth and there may be many security vulnerabilities.

Working on MyStudyOnline

About a month ago I and my brother decided to open a web-based company. That is to create a website and give some unique service to people. After several discussions we decided upon creating a website for students, where students would have a platform to discuss about their studies, get help from experts and get information, study materials and sample questions of exams. We booked a domain ( www.mystudyonline.co.in ) promptly and started working. As I am fond of making websites and have made several of them with free subdomains, I got interested on working in a serious project. As my semester exams were closer I could not proceed much that time. My exams are now over and again I got with it. The website is now more flexible and professional looking. Though it does not have much contents right now, I wish to add more in a few days. There is a blog created specially for the website and also a group on google.
