Installed ubuntu, working fine!

Yesterday, I downloaded and installed the latest ubuntu 7.10 on my desktop. It installed quite easily and quickly like it's predecessor. And of course, it is working smoothly. There are not much visible changes in it other than the wallpaper. I noticed it has default read and write support for external hard disks. I installed some other softwares like VLC, Google Desktop, Wine etc immediately. I also installed Apache2 web server along with PHP and MySQL. For some days, I was trying to install PHP on Windows XP. But though the IIS web server was working, PHP won't work. Now with linux I found it quite easy to have PHP working.


The only problem I was facing with linux is that I cannot watch TV, couldn't find a software that can be configured properly for my TV tuner card.

Comet Lulin Comes Closer

Comet Lulin will be on its closest approach (.41 AU) to earth on 24th February. It will not be much bright though (Max. magnitude 4.0 - 5.0). Still on a dark sky you may be able to spot it as a white splotch against the black sky. Look for it in the constellation Leo [ skymap ]. It will lie only a few degrees from saturn. The comet actually looks green through powerful telescopes. This is because, its gassy atmosphere, of the size of Jupiter, contains cyanogen(CN) and diatomic carbon(C 2 ), both glow green in sunlight.
